The Hotchkiss School - Flinn & Edelman Dormitories
Towers|Golde developed the landscape design for two new dormitories for the Hotchkiss School. The project was envisioned as a demonstration of the community’s commitment to sustainability - it achieved LEED Gold certification. T|G provided full services which resulted in a seamless extension of the campus landscape vocabulary and vehicular circulation into the new distinct precinct of the two, 27,000 sq ft historic style buildings. An oval lawn, partially walled, provides recreational space on the interior of the complex. It is countered by richly detailed terrace courtyards for each ‘house’, and tree-framed views to the distant hills. Storm water is collected and filtered in an innovative rain garden swale, planted with native plants.
