Residential Colleges, Yale University
Towers|Golde has been pleased to direct the site restoration, enhancement and expansion of nine of these iconic cultural landscapes over the course of almost 16 years of sequential development. The Yale University campus is unique in that it is composed of a series of enclosed, landscaped outdoor rooms, most dating to the 1930’s. While maintaining the essential character of the original designs, T|G re-created and directed the re-construction of more than 25 of those courtyards as well as numerous ancillary spaces and 10 blocks of downtown streetscape. Historic trees were carefully protected where possible, but below grade expansions, major infrastructure interventions and the grade manipulation require to provide accessibility mandated total renovations.
